Focalab x Robotime: Empowering Families to Create Their First Handmade Masterpiece

On July 18, 2026, Robotime partnered with Focalab to host a Family Day event — bringing laser cutting, coloring, and hands-on model assembly to employees and their families at Robotime Headquarters in Suzhou.

As an innovative brand focused on 3D model creation and intelligent making, Focalab joined Robotime's Family Day with its advanced creative tools, allowing families to experience the complete journey from digital ideas to physical creations, including laser cutting, painting, and hands-on model assembly.

At the Robotime Headquarters in Suzhou, China, 10 families gathered to explore what it truly means to make something from scratch. Whether they were first-time users of laser cutting technology or curious young creators, everyone could quickly get started with Focalab's guided workflow.

A CREATIVE JOURNEY

From Imagination to Creation

Model building is more than just a hobby - it is a way to inspire creativity, imagination, and hands-on learning. Robotime invited 10 families to experience Focalab's complete creative workflow.

Step one: Design Selection - families browse Focalab's library of models, choosing the pattern that sparks their imagination before the laser brings it to life.

The design-selection moment was particularly special. Parents and children leaned in together, deciding which model to build - a dragonfly's delicate wings or an octopus's soft silhouette. That shared decision was already the beginning of the creative journey.

WATCHING ART BECOME REAL

Watching the Laser Bring Designs to Life

Once a design was chosen, the Focalab machine took over. Families gathered around as the blue laser traced each line with precision - cutting wooden sheets into the exact shapes they had selected on screen. For many children, watching the machine work was the most magical moment of the day.

Unlike traditional model kits that only focus on assembly, Focalab encourages users to experience the joy of creating from scratch.

EASY TO PICK, FUN TO CREATE

Two Beginner-Friendly Starter Models

To make the experience enjoyable for all ages, Focalab prepared two beginner-friendly starter models: a delicate dragonfly and a creative octopus. With guidance from the Focalab team, children explored each step - watching laser designs transform into physical pieces, then assembling them with their own hands.

COLOR & IMAGINATION

Let Creativity Take Flight

Beyond laser cutting, children also participated in the coloring process. Using watercolor pens, they added their own colors and personal touches to each model - turning every creation into a unique expression of imagination. No two finished models looked exactly alike.

Through coloring, assembling, and completing their own models, children experienced the satisfaction and excitement of bringing their ideas to life. Every step became part of the creative story.

HANDMADE MASTERPIECES

A Celebration of Handmade Creativity

The event also featured a showcase of beautifully crafted models - each one a testament to the artistic possibilities of combining digital precision with human creativity.
